The face & story behind the business
I’m Laura, owner of The Handmade Resin Art Co, a business I set up at home in County Durham almost 6 years ago during those dreaded Covid days.
At the time, I worked full time in a secondary school as a Senior Cover Teacher & Classroom Support Assistant and I was also the main carer for my lovely Gran, who thanks to Covid, completely lost her confidence and independence. It was because of this that I was signed off work prior to the national UK lockdown to be able to care for her safely. During this time, I discovered resin as a hobby and it naturally turned into a business as the months passed by.
Due to shop closures, small online businesses, including mine, were booming and as my Gran became more in need of day to day care and help, with the support of my husband, I took the plunge and left my job of 11 years at the school and made The Handmade Resin Art Co my main job.
Sadly, we lost my Gran 3 years ago and I decided to keep running my business. In January 2023, I began hosting livestreams on TikTok which completely changed my business and my life. I have met some of the most amazing friends there and it still staggers me how incredibly supportive and encouraging people who I have never met can be! That being said, I have been so fortunate to meet some of these people both in the UK and America! 
My business really changed my life and I put my heart and soul into everything that I make. I never envisaged that it would become what it is today and I am truly so grateful to everyone who supports me by ordering, sharing my content and following me on social media.
Away from the business I am happily married to Christian, the guy who didn’t know what he had signed up for when I started this business! He is a wonderful help behind the scenes posting parcels and picking up stock for me. I am also step mum to 3 beautiful grown up daughters, Lily-Rose, Scarlet & Aurelia and I have the cutest little fur baby in the world, Mia. I also have THE most supportive group of friends … the kind who purchased all of my very first resin makes despite their flaws! Without their initial support, endless hours spent at craft fairs with me, I wouldn’t have a business that I am super proud of today.
